Dirty Dishes and Dirty Boys

It's hard to believe but I haven't done dishes all day!  I usually wash them three times a day or more, depending on how much I've cooked, but I've been busy so they'll have to wait until tomorrow!

Levi and Jacob have been attending the art school this year.  They came home covered in paint today!  They ran up and took quick showers.  When Jacob came down you couldn't even tell he'd showered.  He also put the same dirty shirt back on.  That boy!  Needless to say it didn't do them very much good to shower.  We've found paint on the wall, toilet, towels, light switch, and the dog!

For tonight's adventure we went to McDonald's and the grocery store.  After we all go to the store together we wonder why in the world we take five children!  It wasn't bad really, but it's enough work getting everything on your list without the task of keeping track of everyone.  Oh well, they had fun!  As always I seem to entertain the cashier at McDonald's.  I know how to ask for what I want but when they start rapid fire questions at me then I have some trouble.  Just give me what I order, no more, no less, por favor!  :)

COFFEE

I should be sleeping, but alas, I drank coffee and am wired for sound.  Everyone else is sleeping so it's nice to have peace and quiet, however, in the morning I will likely regret my choices.

My friend Holly and I went to MegaPaca (similar to Goodwill) for some much needed girl shopping time and then to a little cafe and had chocolate cake and coffee for dinner.  Ahh, it was wonderful.  I found some clothes for the boys too - exactly what I was looking for and at great prices!  They have discounts up to 90% off, crazy!

I'm all ready to teach at the cooking school tomorrow.  I tend to get excited and have trouble sleeping.  We are going to make garlic knots and no-bake chocolate oatmeal cookies.  Weird combo, I know.  While the dough is rising for the garlic knots we will make the cookies.  Chocolate and bread, bread and chocolate - nothing wrong with that!

Good night, sleep tight, don't let the bedbugs bite!

Rules

Someone had to teach Levi the rules of the Kunkel house tonight.

While playing games with your father:

1.  Always keep your eye on him, you never know when he is going to cheat.

2.  Don't ask him questions while he is losing.

3.  You must keep playing until he wins.

4.  Don't play Scrabble unless you plan to play for over an hour!

5.  Never, under any circumstances, play monopoly with him!!!

Ha!  We love to play games, but really, these are the rules :)

Family Pictures

Well, I daresay that family pictures are getting a little easier as the kids are getting older!  Usually Caleb is a stinker, but he did a great job and was a sweetie!  A big thanks to our friend, Summer, who took the pictures for us!

Party, School, and Pictures

Sunday we went to Nacho's birthday party.  His mom, Alejandra, is Julio's niece.  She has two little boys.  They are a very special family to us.  Nacho is such a cutie!  He was a bit shy, but I think he had fun.

It was quite the party with two pinatas!  The boys loved them and enjoyed playing with all the other boys!

Today was the first day of school!  All three of the schools met at the Art School for prayer and devotions to begin the year.

It was fun to be back in the cooking school.  I'm looking forward to getting to know the new ladies!  We made a traditional cake today.  When baking cakes here it is very common to torte the cake and pour (a ton) of liquid into the cake.  I brought a piece home for the boys to try - Luke loved it and ate the whole thing!

Our friend Summer took some family pictures of us today.  We are looking forward to seeing them!  Cody even made it into several :)

Levi's Birthday!

Oops, I forgot one major event over the past couple of weeks - Levi turned 10!  We had a great day celebrating.  Since we've moved here Ben has taken the boys to Antigua for their birthdays for some one on one time.  They get to pick a gift from the market and have lunch together.  He picked out his first pocket knife.....  Praying for no trips to the ER!  Levi was excited to have Subway.

His friend Milton came over and we had ice cream (and root beer) for a treat and then we went to celebrate New Year's Eve with some friends.  It was Brock's birthday as well.  We stayed up well past midnight and watched an amazing fireworks show.

Preparing for School

Sorry for the lapse in time between posts.  We've been busy getting ready for the new school year.  School starts next week for the kids here in Magdalena as well as for the Cooking, Art, and Carpentry schools.  Through generous donations we were able to purchase supplies and uniforms for over a dozen kids!  There are a few girls in particular that are close to my heart that are able to attend school this year.  It is such a privilege and blessing for them.  I'm looking forward to attending classes at the cooking school again, I've missed the ladies!

Ben and I were able to go on a date Saturday night.  We had a nice time and, of course, went to the grocery store.  Actually, two of them :)  It's so much easier and faster without five kiddos, ya know?

I'm going to help Antonietta work on a wedding cake tomorrow.  Please pray for us, it can be quite stressful!
